Nothing is constant
I love that in Ireland Spring commences in February! I love that even though it might still be super cold and super wet, this labelling of ‘Spring’ invites us to see all the wonderful things happening in the natural world around us, all the new growth, possibility and change.
As some of you know, I enjoy fostering for animal charities and we are heading into ‘kitten season’. Lambs are being born across the country. The early spring leaves of bulbs are appearing through the soil ready to show off their beautiful petals soon.
The seasons, and the Spring season in particular, remind us of the constancy of change! Nothing is ever fixed; everything can change or move or grow. So can we! If you are experiencing a particularly cold or dark time in your life, please remember that this state of being is not permanent. Like the stormy clouds overhead that are always moving and eventually the sun breaks through, our future is not defined by how we feel in this moment. The next moment is coming.
I invite you to find somewhere you can clearly see the sky. Watch the movement in it. Watch the changes in cloud formations, see the birds flying by or watch the trees swaying in the breeze. No two moments are the same. I invite you to get a sense of the movement in your own body, mind and heart. Nothing is static or permanent. Each moment is new and is full of new potentialities. Breathe deeply and imagine filling up with all the possibilities. You are a human being with the capacity for all human emotions – all of them!
As this Spring unfolds, let’s be open to the movement, change and possibility that we all carry. Let’s be open to moving with it and let’s see where it takes us.
